Giddy Up

When I was 10, making plans to go to the Scera swimming pool with my family would make me giddy. I would giggle. Get happy. The afternoon was spent besting each other off the diving board. Hand stand contests. My dad teaching me how to dive. (It was the best when dad could come with us.) Underwater flip competitions. It was simply bliss.

When I was 20, having the same shift as the hunky line cook at the restaurant I was a waitress at made me giddy. I never knew if I would work the same shift as him until I got there. So there was no anticipatory giddiness like there was with the pool. I would clock in, walk to the back and BAM, there he was. Twenty year old giddiness.

When I was 25, driving away from the reception with my new husband of 6 hours after a night of dancing and cake made me unbelievably giddy. (He still makes me unbelievably giddy.)

But I have found a new form of giddiness. A new level if you will.

Three in the afternoon. Dishes done. Bottles washed. Bed made. Clothes folded. And all three babies asleep. And will be for at least an hour.

This mama gets gi-i-i-i-dy.

PS - The best part of this new giddiness I've discovered, it shows up again when they wake up and give me that "hello mommy" smile.

I'm not kidding, I want a response to this... how do you get them asleep at the same time? Jonah is a GREAT sleeper and I still felt like I had to align the stars with the moon and then stand on one foot and hold my breath. Just curious. Good post.
