Actual Conversation

Between Me and My Husband.

K: Hey, what was that? Was that water? Why is there water in a track and field event?

C: That’s the steeplechase.

K: What? They jump into water?

C: Yes honey, they jump a hurdle into water.

K: Do they know which hurdles have the water after them or is it a surprise?

Pause. Firm Look.

C: Kara, it’s the Olympics. Not some Japanese game show.

I have witnesses to this conversation. Personally, I think it would be more exciting if it was a surprise, or as my friend’s husband said during this little exchange, "maybe they should jump into jello."

Now there are two events that I never knew existed before this Olympics, Steeplechase and Trampoline.

My 50 Meter Leisure Backstroke isn't looking like such a long shot anymore.

You make me laugh! I actually watched that event too and was surprised by the whole water hurdle thing. Oh well, at least it gives us something to smile about. :)

You are LITERALLY the funniest person I know!! How proud I am to be related to such a girl! I was laughing out loud at this, Michael found it pretty ammusing as well. I am quite satisfied that I am not the only one in the family who doesn't know EVERYthing there is to know about athletics.
