My fellow Americans. Friends, family, neighbors and lovely strangers. Remember this day. For this day will live on in my memory. Forever.
Dust off your journals. Update your status. So when your grandkids ask you, "Do you remember where you were that day?" You'll be able to say, yes. Yes I do.
You'll always remember where you were the day all the laundry in my house was washed, folded and put away.
And now, moving on to more pleasant tasks. Deciding which flavor Dreyer's bar to eat first.
And speaking of accomplishments, my youngest brother, the baby of our family graduated from high school yesterday. The 6th and last child in my family to graduate from the same high school. He also did something extra kudos-like. He received an Academic All-State award in four sports. The only person in the history of the world ever to achieve such an honor.
Oh, I've just been handed a bulletin. Correction: the only person in the history of South Summit High School to ever win the award in 4 sports. Still cool.
Bravo little brother. Your ever-expanding sister is quite proud of you.
Chris and the babies are missing from this family shot. He graciously offered to stay home with them. Graduation was outside, in a stadium, in the mountains. Mix that with our three, and it's a recipe for missing the entire thing because the kids are running up and down bleacher stairs, while possibly, inadvertently wiping their dripping noses (from the cold mountain air) on the nice folks that came to watch Johnny get his diploma. Let's be honest, do I look like I'm in any condition to go up and down stairs?!?
You have to pick your events sometimes.
What is your biggest accomplishment of the week?

Some Moments
Mono y mono. Or is it mano e mano? Mano y mano. There it is.

Mano y mano. Just you and your opponent. No team, no assists, no throwing blocks, no plays to run. Just you and the guy across from you. If you win, it's all you. If you lose, it's all you.
This is why I love wrestling.
In my mind, there's Kerri Strug sticking a vault landing on a broken ankle, Rocky beating Apollo (again), and now, my little brother winning the state championship. All of these moments made me emotional. There's something special about some moments in sports. Something where you know it isn't just the training and practice. You see their heart and soul.

They give you a glimpse into what their struggle was to get to this point.
This moment of triumph.
I give you the 126 lb state champion for 2012 in the 2A Division. So proud of you McKay!

Showed em How to Wrestle, Twisted em Like a Pretzel
Just a big shout out to my little brother McKay for taking 3rd place in the state championship this year! That 125 pounder is one tough dude. Although I only made it to two matches this entire season (I have a few excuses) it was always to great to see him in action. I'm always impressed with how he carried himself after, win or lose.
Of course, I'm the worst memory keeper of all time lately! Did I have my camera with me on Saturday? Yes. Did I remember to bring it in? No. Did I have my phone with me that also has a camera built in? Yes. Did I remember that I had it? No.
So no pictures of the big champ. Just imagine a handsome, smiling 17 year old, who looked like he accomplished something grand. Because he did.
Love you McKay!
(I think Gabe might have a future in wrestling. He's quick, wiry, a unusually strong for a peanut of his size.)
Also, another quick little woot woot to my alma mater for taking 1st place as a team! Go South Summit. Lots of fun memories of cheering on friends at many a wrestling tournament. Or as we say, The Wrastles.
