Thankful - Oct. 28, 2010 (I'll try to be thankful for the snow.)

Three tiny heads staring out the window. The snow coming down heavy, leaving a soft blanket of cold on the back patio. It is the first snow they have seen. Chubby hands leave tiny fingerprints. Noses pressed against the cold glass watching the snow fall fall fall. A glance back at mom every now and then with an excited smile or occasional giggle as if to say, "Are you seeing this?"

They are excited. I am sick. Good bye fall. It was nice seeing you, if only for a short while. Two things went through my head. 1) I am going to let them come to their own conclusion about winter and the cold. I'll try my best not to let my prejudice out about the white stuff and all the icy nothingness it brings with it. 2) I'm not going to be in a hurry to wipe those smudges.

I love reading your blog because everything is so well written and said. I could totally visualize your three cuties watching the snow and their little handprints on the window. I am so sorry you guys got snow though. It just sounds awful.

blame it on my psychology education, but i've taught myself to associate the word "snow" with "cozy" and i've gotta say, i like snow a lot more now. here are some positive word associations for you:

snow = cozy, fireplace, pajamas, socks and slippers, hot chocolate, snuggling, electric blanket, reading in bed, soup, old movies, and watching three little noses press against the glass as your precious little children wonder at falling snowflakes.

anyways, I KID YOU NOT, i thought to myself, "this would definitely NOT make kara's thankful october posts." it made me laugh.
