Today I Celebrate

I celebrate the fact that the calendar says it's the first day of spring.

I celebrate the fact that the sunshine and warm car makes it easy for me to believe the calendar's claim.

I'm celebrating playing my first round of golf for the year. So, so great. I can't believe what a wide patch of grass does for me. This celebration extends to finding a potential new golf partner. Lorien, you seriously impressed me today! A par your first time out? Who does that? It was a really great golfing day.

My celebration includes the mini sunburn I got on the back of my calves. Normally, I don't like getting sunburned. Sunblock, is of course, a strict regiment for me. People who know me probably get sick of how much I talk about sunblock.

"We get it Kara. UV rays bad, sunblock good. You're fair skinned, you get burned easily,...blah, blah, blah. Stop talking about it!"

But, today, I'm enjoy the slight pinkish line that is near the top of my calf. It's a reminder that the sun is going to be showing up more and more on a regular basis and I need to get into the practice of better sunblocking. It's a reminder that it was nice enough today that I could wear shorts that exposed my sun kissed calves. (I also added a few new freckles to the mix today. Another sign of warmth and joy.)

And finally, I celebrate the pound of strawberries I bought at the store for $1.49.

Strawberries on sale. Perfect day of golf. Pink skin. New freckles.

Spring is here.

It would be exciting to live in a state that when you say spring times it means all of those wonderful things you stated. In oregon it means rain and temps only in the 50's. I'm holding out for those wonderful things to happen to me in June.
