My Poor Baby

had his wisdom teeth out last week.

We knew the day would come.  He had four fully grown wisdom teeth yanked out of his cute little mouth.  It was kind of a new adventure for us because I have never seen my husband of three years, boyfriend for two, totally and completely out of commission.

We were sent home with plenty of drugs (yuck) and post op instructions.  He was a very good patient with the liquids, jello, medication, ice packs.  I was very proud of how well he followed my orders. (I was a very strict nurse!)  He seemed to be healing great!  We even went out the next two nights to dinner and a crazy show where people were winning cars and ten thousand dollars.  You know, normal activities.

Then disaster...we learned what dry socket was and that he had it.  Basically, a clot that is supposed to form doesn't and leaves nerve endings exposed causing a lot of pain.  A lot.  Even with the yucky drugs that are supposed to help with that sort of thing.  A trip back to the dentist office and an artificial clot soaked in clove oil helped.

So, what did I learn from this new adventure together?  Not a whole lot.  Really I just have more questions,

1) What in the world did people do before sedation teeth pulling and this whole business of wisdom teeth removal?  Like 1845?

2)   Okay, so that was my only major question.

Oh, I did learn I do not like Chris on drugs.  Boo Lortab.  We can't wait until we don't need you anymore.

PS - After we learned he had dry socket (not everyone gets it), this might have been a good place to say said movie quote posted below...

"Our pets HEADS are fallin off!"

The poor guy! Honestly, dry socket is the worth type of mouth pain that you can possibly have. I hope he feels better soon!
